What happens when one confronts that which one fears the most?
Inspired by Asian Horror cinema, Keep All Sharp Objects Out of My Way, is an explosive confrontation with the irrational and primal parts of the human psyche. Fear becomes a visceral, physical experience in this work that shifts from haunted stillness to volatile energy, from control to chaos.
The work is shot through with suspense as the dancers test each other in combative duets and ambiguous embraces. Steve Lucas's high-contrast lighting sometimes obfuscates the dancers, sometimes exposes them in a moment of vulnerability. Craig Stockbridge's score creates a haunting atmosphere broken by pounding beats in which the dancers struggle against the tenuous hold of we have on reality.
