Dancing in
Sioux Lookout

This year The Chimera Project, with support of The Trillium Foundation, has been given the opportunity to bring dance workshops, technique and fitness classes to Sioux Lookout in northern Ontario. These dance initiatives were conceived and executed in partnership with the Sioux Hudson Entertainment Series, Nishnawbe-Gamik Friendship Centre, Sioux Mountain Elementary School and Impact Theatre.

In August, the company brought yoga, breaking (break-dancing), DanceFit and BallFit classes to the local community. In addition, The Chimera Project organized a Flash Mob featuring local dancers led by Cadence Paleske that surprised the crowd at the 25th annual Blueberry Festival.

Thank you to the Trillium Foundation, Bearskin Airlines,
the McLain Foundation and The Lloyd Carr-Harris
Foundation and our friends and volunteers in
Sioux Lookout for their support of this initative!

The Chimera Project is awarded operating funding from the Toronto Arts Council

The Chimera Project wishes to thank the Toronto Arts Council for their generous support in newly awarding the company with operational funding!

This funding is vital to continue our ongoing activities in education, creation and performance in Toronto.

Nowacka creates for Ballet Jörgen Canada's Junior Company

The Ballet Jörgen Canada's Junior Company summer intensive program seeks to bridge the gap between the student experience and professional dancing world for a small group of young dancers by simulating the experience of a professional dance company environment. Ballet Jörgen Canada apprentice positions are hired from those who complete this program.

Malgorzata Nowacka a guest contemporary ballet choreographer for the summer 2011 intensive program this year.

"It's always fascinating to see young dancers in their transitionary moments. The five week period is intense,
and it's amazing to see the changes that happen in
each artist" said Malgorzata about the experience.
